David Folden, MD, Partners with Rhein Medical to Create the Folden Femto Double Ended Dissector

MINNEAPOLIS – May 19, 2015 – A local surgeon specializing in cataract, LASIK, and refractive lens implant surgery has partnered with Rhein Medical to create the Folden Femto Double Ended Dissector.

David Folden, MD, designed the instrument for a smooth opening of all femtosecond laser-created corneal incisions during cataract surgery. The instrument enhances safety, comfort, and outcomes for patients undergoing laser cataract eye surgery.

“This instrument allows for a more gentle approach and improved efficiency for the surgeon performing cataract surgery,” says Dr. Folden. “For the patient, this instrument helps improve comfort, minimizes local irritation, and ultimately improves outcomes.”

The instrument is now commercially available from Rhein Medical to surgeons worldwide. Florida-based LENSAR, a leading manufacturer of innovative femtosecond laser technology for cataract surgery, has already purchased the instrument and uses them in several of their new facilities.

Dr. Folden is one of the most experienced laser cataract surgeons in the state of Minnesota.
