Dr. Axelson is a Minnesota native. She attended the University of Minnesota, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She received her optometry degree at the Illinois College of Optometry in 2001, graduating magna cum laude. During her time at ICO, she was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa and Tomb and Key honor societies. She is committed to providing high quality eye care to patients of all ages. She cares most about getting to know her patients and educating them on disease prevention through a healthy lifestyle.
Personal
Dr. Axelson and her husband, Davi, raise their two children in St. Paul. They enjoy traveling and enjoying winter sports including hockey and nordic skiing. When she isn’t working, she spends time volunteering at her children’s school. Dr. Axelson volunteers for Special Olympics Minnesota Opening Eyes, conducting vision exams on hundreds of competing athletes. She is also the President of the Minnesota Optometric Association (MOA) and is involved with volunteer activities promoting access to eye care in her local community.
