When Can I Return To Normal Activities After LASIK?

With your new, clearer vision, nothing will seem normal! The activities you love will be brighter, more vibrant, and less hindered by glasses or contacts.

NSES_Web_LASIK icons_2013-10-22-09Most patients take a nap after their LASIK procedure, and many find that their eyes feel nearly normal about 6-8 hours after the procedure. Most patients have excellent vision within 24 hours of their surgery and can return to work the next day.

It is important to avoid specific activities for a few weeks after your LASIK procedure. Dusty environments, lake or pond swimming, heavy contact sports, and other activities that may irritate your eyes, cause you to rub them excessively, or place them in danger of infection should all be avoided.

Our staff will give you detailed instructions for how to care for your eyes following your LASIK procedure, so you won’t need to worry about what to do.
